Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about ProposalKit.

How do I install ProposalKit?
Download the ProposalKit plugin ZIP file from your account or the WordPress plugin directory. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, select the ZIP file, and click Install Now. Once installed, click Activate. You will see a new "ProposalKit" menu item in your dashboard sidebar. The plugin works with any standard WordPress installation (version 5.8+).
How do I create my first proposal?
Navigate to ProposalKit > New Proposal in your WordPress dashboard. Add your client's name and email, choose a template, then add your services with pricing. You can set one-time, hourly, or monthly rates for each line item. Add optional items that clients can toggle on or off. When you are ready, click Send to email the proposal link to your client, or copy the link to share via text message.
How do I collect payments?
Go to ProposalKit > Settings > Payments and connect your preferred payment providers. ProposalKit supports Stripe (credit/debit cards), PayPal, bank transfers, and USDC cryptocurrency. Once connected, your proposals will display a payment button after the client signs. You can also set a required retainer or deposit amount that clients must pay upfront before work begins.
How do I customize templates?
ProposalKit includes 5 professional templates. Go to ProposalKit > Settings > Templates to preview them. When creating a proposal, select your template, then customize your brand colors, upload your logo, and edit section content. You can also create reusable content blocks in the Content Library for sections you use frequently, such as about pages, terms and conditions, or project timelines.
Is my data secure?
Yes. All your proposal data, client information, and documents are stored on your own WordPress server — we never host or access your data. Proposal pages support password protection, noindex meta tags to prevent search engine indexing, and rate limiting to prevent abuse. Payment processing is handled directly by Stripe and PayPal using their secure, PCI-compliant infrastructure. Our license server only verifies your license key and site URL; no proposal content is ever transmitted.
How does the AI feature work?
The AI feature (available on the AI Pro plan) uses Anthropic's Claude API to help you write proposals faster. It can suggest services and pricing based on your industry, generate professional descriptions for line items, write full proposal sections, and rewrite existing content to sound more polished. You always review and edit AI suggestions before sending. Content submitted to the AI is processed by Anthropic's servers subject to their usage policies.
